When I was in college as a music major, my percussion instructor said that music is very philosophical. Why do we play music? For fun? To entertain other people? To make money? There is no right answer to this question. Every musician develops their own personal philosophy when it comes to making music.
This song was written in response to all the actors I’ve watched over the years spout off about politics every time an election rolls around.😁 I probably could have written a song just like this about musicians running off at the mouth. However, I happen to like a lot of those bands and musicians, even though many times I totally disagree with their political opinions.
This reminds me of an interview I read one time with Joe Elliot, the singer with Def Leppard. He said they were not a political band. He said they were well aware of all the problems in the world, but a band wasn’t going to to change those problems. He said what Def Leppard did was simply entertain people. Their purpose was to take people away from all those problems for a couple hours and enjoy themselves. I guess I’d say that’s my basic musical philosophy as well.
I really like this song because it’s upbeat and fun. I think it really rocks despite the fact that the recording still needs some more work. One of the disadvantages to having a recording studio in your basement is the fact that you never feel like you can say a song is done .😁 You can always work on it some more and make it better. This is probably one of the reasons I haven’t put any new music of mine up for streaming for awhile. I never feel that it’s quite ready.
This is just a demo though. There are several things i will change before releasing to all the major streaming platforms.
